Kwatsaduza – Three region E players were chosen to play in the upcoming OR Tambo Soncini Games.
Thabang Phele, Bandile Mfene and Zodwa Nkabinde will be part of the Ekurhuleni Champ of Champs squad after they displayed great skill at the Sam Ntuli Stadium, Thokoza.
The team lost by seven goals to eight against region B and won 24 goals to 10 against Region D.
“The event was more about allowing our players to showcase their talents and get selected. We were not too worried about the scoreboard,” explained coach Jane Mayisa.
Ten region E players made it to the top 20, but only three made it to the final nine.
“I am proud of the ones who made it through. They understand that even though they did their best on the court, the final team has a set number,” added Mayisa.
