MMA Star Guilherme “Bomba” Vasconcelos Dead at 38

The martial arts community is mourning a tragic loss.

Guilherme “Bomba” Vasconcelos, a professional fighter who previously dated Demi Lovato, has died, his loved ones confirmed to MMA Fighting. He was 38 years old.

The athlete’s uncle Walter Vasconcelos Jr. also spoke to his nephew’s passing on social media, writing on Oct. 15, via translation, “Sad, very sad to say goodbye, Guilherme Vasconcelos! And so far from us in the USA. My dear nephew, my godson, loving father of little Naomi.”

Walter continued to note how the MMA fighter’s family members mourned his loss, including Guilherme’s mother Elisabete, adding, “We were looking forward to your arrival at Christmas, which will no longer happen. Life is a breath and we wake up to this heartbreaking news. We pray for you!”

No cause of death has been shared at this time.

Guilherme—who was nicknamed “Bomba” professionally­—got his start, per MMA fighting, in his home country of Brazil. Across his seven-year professional UFC and Bellator career, the athlete accumulated 10 wins before his retirement in 2019.
