Kwa-Thema – The Springs Home Sweepers U17 team walked away with gold at the Gold One Regional Development League on Sunday. The league started in March, with teams from around Ekurhuleni competing for the top spot.
“The boys did well from the beginning. They showed dedication. I just had to keep reminding them to stay focused until we reached the end.
“A league is like a marathon. You can win a few times but get set back by one loss. You just have to be consistent and not get distracted by the excitement of winning,” said Mkhonza Mkhonzana, the coach and founder of Springs Home Sweepers.
The team played 20 games and won 18. In the final, they met Future of Africa.
“We have to keep playing and challenging ourselves. Exposure to different clubs and different settings will help us be better,” added Mkhonza.
The team has one more major competition for the year. Mkhonza thanked the Nomndayi CoGames and the Mgazi Exclusive Lounge for their constant financial assistance.
