John Dube – Fani Webster of Bua Re Utuse Youth Development hosted a women empowerment day on November 23 at Healing Power and Deliverance Ministry.
“The main focus of the event was to donate 100 sanitary pads to young girls in our area. But we did it differently. We invited people to motivate these young girls to be responsible women of tomorrow,” explained Webster.
“The event aimed to encourage young women to support each other in climbing the ladder of success and not joke about other women struggling.
“We aimed to empower women so they can control their own political, social and economic development,” explained Nompumelelo Nhlapo.

According to Webster, the event was a success all thanks to the Transvaal Galvanizers for the donation of sanitary pads. One of the speakers, Sbongile Mashinini from GBV Brigade, encouraged the young women to be responsible.
She also educated them about different types of bullying.
Thandi Madlala from CPF spoke about safety and encouraged the young women to care for themselves and not walk around at night.
Sibongile Ngubane from Ukukhaya Kwe John Dube Group motivated the girls to love themselves and to focus on their education because education is important.
