The CoE, in partnership with the Gauteng Provincial Government, held the Township Commercial Property Owners’ Imbizo at the Tsakani Community Hall on December 5.
The imbizo was part of the Qondis’ Ishishini Lakho – Fix Your Business campaign to help local businesses comply with essential regulations in Gauteng.
Addressing the crowd, Nomadlozi Nkosi, MMC for Developmental Planning and Real Estate, said, “Our offices have streamlined the processes to make compliance easier for businesses.
We invite businesses, including informal traders, to come forward so we can help them meet the necessary regulations and abide by the law. Together, we can help our local township economy thrive.”
Property owners received insights on several aspects of trading and related zoning, including:
• guidance on how to register their businesses;
• understanding the significance of a Certificate of Acceptability and health and safety compliance;
• clarification on local zoning laws affecting business operations;
• ensuring properties meet the necessary building regulations.
“The imbizo was one of a series held across the city to foster a supportive environment for businesses in townships, promote compliance and enhance overall economic vitality,” explained Nkosi.
Business and property owners with businesses operating on their premises should visit their nearest Customer Care Centres for further assistance.
