Austin Butler is going from Oscar buzz to a literal buzz.
The Elvis star sported a fresh buzz cut as he stepped out for the 2024 SFFILM Awards in San Francisco Dec. 9, where he posed for photos alongside Dune director Denis Villeneuve. Austin coupled the new ‘do with some light facial stubble as he donned a black suit with wide lapels and matching tie.
Days before the red carpet appearance, Austin, 33, casually debuted his newly-sheared look during a getaway to Mexico in photos shared on social media by local tourist destination Xieltun.
“We had the honor of welcoming two great film talents to Xieltun: actor Austin Butler and acclaimed director Darren Aronofsky,” the company wrote in an Instagram post Dec. 4 via Spanish translation. “Thank you for visiting us and being part of this unique experience in connection with nature and the spirit of our sacred land!”
It’s not the first time the Zoey 101 alum has gone for ultra-short hair and has even gone bald before. In fact, Austin ditched his hair and his eyebrows for his role as antagonist Feyd-Rautha in Dune: Part Two, which was released earlier this year.
