Duduza – TV Entertainment, Veromo Enterprise and the Duduza Ward 86 Youth League hosted The School Is Cool Career Expo hosted on November 30.

“The expo was a resounding success and lived up to its name by introducing learners to school. The aim was to impact learners by exposing them to career professionals and information.

“Another aim of the event was to help children with NSFAS registration and help them register for courses they normally would not be exposed to,” said the event coordinator Tshepo Sithole.

Sithole added, “One of our biggest stakeholders, the National Electronic Media Institute of South Africa (NEMISA) introduced the learners to courses ranging from broadcasting, animation, artificial intelligence and many more.”

He said the learners showed interest as they went to the NEMISA stall to register for the courses.

“Another speaker, chef Sibusiso Mabena, also motivated the learners, answered their many questions and informed the learners about the different courses offered in the hospitality industry, highlighting the hospitality industry is broader than just being a chef,’ said Sithole.

He added the latter part of the day included a netball and six-a-side soccer tournament.

“Because a healthy body results in a healthy mind, sports play a big role in our programme for learners. The Adventures from Tsakani Ext 17 won the netball and the six-a-side soccer prize was won by Ezase Memeza,” added Sithole.
