The Qhubeka Athletic Club is thrilled to announce its third annual Human Rights Race Day, which will take place on March 21, at the School of Achievement in Germiston.

The event, which will start at 06:00, invites runners from across the region to participate in a day of fitness, community spirit and solidarity.

Chairperson of the club coach Benzi Tenza said this year’s race promises to build on the success of previous years, with exciting routes designed to challenge participants.

The event caters to runners of all levels and offers:
• 21km: R240 (grand masters R180, great grandmasters free)

• 10km: R190 (grand masters R140, great grandmasters free)

• 5km: R100 (grand masters R70, great grandmasters free)

“Temporary licences are required for participants in the 21km and 10km races, available at R70 and R60, respectively. The 5km fun run will kick off at 06:15, followed by the longer races.

“As a special incentive, participants in the 21km and 10km categories will receive a free commemorative T-shirt, while the first 300 entrants for the 5km run will also be gifted a free T-shirt,” said Tenza.

Reflecting on last year’s tremendous support, Tenza said the 2024 race being sold out was truly encouraging.

“This year, we’re expecting even more participants for a bigger and better event. The route remains the same, with its mix of challenging uphill climbs and refreshing downhill stretches, making it enjoyable and rewarding for all.

“This event is more than just a race; it’s about bringing people together, promoting a healthy lifestyle and honouring the spirit of Human Rights Day.”
