NIGEL – The Cambridge FC (CFC) team travelled to Bonarero Park for their Hollywood Bets League match against the Goal Getters Football Academy on November 9, winning 3-0.
The Nigel team, still smarting from their defeat the previous weekend, needed to set the record straight.
CFC started attacking from the start whistle and did not want to let the Goal Getters settle. They kept ball possession and adapted well to the bad weather.
Initially, CFC created goal-scoring chances to take the lead but, in the beginning, did not grab the opportunities to score and fell back into their habit of not converting scoring opportunities.
The new signing from Sibiya FC, striker Sipho Sashman Karolo, scored the opener, showing why he was on the team. It was difficult for the opposition’s defence to deal with him.
The second goal came near halftime. Winger Phumelelo Klipa Mazibuko’s calculated cross saw captain Banele Bade Mkwanazi head it in. The score was 2-0 to CFC.
The Goal Getters tried hard to get a goal, but good defence stopped them from scoring. Striker Sipho Sashman Karolo scored the third goal.
CFC played a defensive game in the last quarter, keeping possession of the ball.

“The team will get into gear, and once it clicks, we should be unstoppable,” said new head coach Fairlands John Mosia.
Mosia took over from Minihle Dineka Mthimkhulu, who resigned for personal reasons.
“The team is stable, and we hope to become consistent over the next few weeks. Yes, sadly, we lost a great coach, but life goes on, and we trust the new head coach to deliver the same,” said Ignatius Maphike, the CFC chairperson.
CFC’s next match is at home against Kathorus Juventus at the MacKenzieville Stadium.
