The CoE joined the global observance of Anti-Corruption Day under the theme ‘Uniting with Youth Against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity’.
City manager Dr Imogen Mashazi gave a compelling address, emphasising collective action’s importance in the fight against corruption.
Mashazi acknowledged corruption’s pervasive nature, describing it as a harsh reality that affects everyone, “Corruption is a reality that confronts many around the world, creating challenges, tragedies and inequalities, many of which are directly tied to its existence,” she stated.
Mashazi made a heartfelt appeal to all staff to actively combat corruption. She urged employees to refrain from corrupt activities and report unethical behaviour.
“Our commitment to transparency and accountability is vital in shaping a future built on integrity. Each of us has a role to play in ensuring corruption finds no place in our municipality,” Mashazi asserted.
The city remains steadfast in upholding ethical governance, promoting accountability, and inspiring a culture of integrity, particularly among its youth.
To confidentially report corruption, staff are urged to use the municipality’s fraud hotline, 0800 102 201.
Unite against corruption and build a legacy of integrity for generations to come.
