The CoE calls on owners of vehicles impounded by the EMPD before December 31, 2023, to collect them before 15:00 on July 12.
About 141 vehicles are at the EMPD pounds. Some were impounded after being involved in accidents,
contravening the National Road Traffic Act 93 of 1996 or the city’s by-laws. Owners should bring the following to collect an impounded vehicle:
• Vehicle registration certificate.
• Proof of ownership.
• Owner’s identity document.
• Pound fees.
If the owner can not afford to pay the pound fees, they must apply to the Ekurhuleni chief of police for fee reductions.
Vehicles not claimed before the date will be disposed of. The pounds are open between 08:00 and 15:00 from Monday to Friday.
