Kwa-Thema – EMPD Eastern Region Task Team officers intercepted two men for the possession of substances suspected to be drugs on July 9.
EMPD spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa said the officers received intel from a reliable source about the pair selling illicit substances to community members while conducting law enforcement duties.
“Officers immediately acted on the information and proceeded to an address on Gama Street, where they cornered the 25-year-old suspect with eight ziplock packets of street heroin valued at R800.
“Meanwhile, on Legodi Street, officers intercepted a 50-year-old suspect with 13 ziplock packets of street heroin valued at R1 600,” said Thepa.
Thepa added that the handcuffed pair was marched to the Kwa-Thema Police Station and charged with possession of an illicit substance, suspected to be narcotics.
