Tsakani – The SAPS, the CPF, the EMPD and various other stakeholders conducted a school search in Tsakani on August 7.

The searches, conducted randomly by the various stakeholders, aim to end criminal activity in schools.

“The purpose of these random searches is to get rid of illegal substances and illegal and dangerous objects in schools.

“This came after we realised school children involve themselves in criminal activities, smoking and often carry sharp or inappropriate objects into schools.

“As law enforcers, we partnered and had an agreement with the Department of Education to conduct such operations in schools,” said the Tsakane police spokesperson, Sergeant Lebohang Ramaesa.

Ramaesa added that the school search was successful because they confiscated random and harmful objects, vapes, and cigarettes from the learners.

“There are huge problems in schools, which include gangsterism, peer pressure and violence. This is why we regularly step into schools and try to put an end to issues confronted by them. We want schools to have a conducive environment for the learners and educators,” he added.
