Kwa-Thema – This year, the Ekasi Fashion Week Youth Expo will be held at the Duduza Rank on June 16.

“The taxi rank curated fashion show serves as a platform for established and emerging designers for an array of styles, from traditional African wear to avant-garde haute couture and connect with a wider audience.

“We aim to showcase SA fashion’s incredible creativity and diversity and provide a platform for designers from all backgrounds to connect with new audiences. This diversity is reflected in the models as well, who come from all walks of life and represent different body types, ages, and ethnicities,” explained Stephen Monoki, one of the founders.

He said one of their key objectives is to promote diversity and inclusivity in the fashion industry.

“Our taxi rank showcase is a perfect example of this because it provides a platform for designers from all backgrounds to showcase their work and connect with new audiences.

“The previous taxi rank showcase was a huge success and attracted international media. We are overwhelmed by the positive response we received after our last taxi rank showcase. It is a testament to our designers’ and models’ incredible talent and creativity,” he added.

This year’s event promises to be even more spectacular.

“We feature the 1976 Youth runway, the Gogo and Madala runway, with local and international fashion models walking down the runway showcasing different looks.

“We have some incredible designs in store for this year’s event, and can’t wait to see them come to life on the runway.

“Rumour has it a few celebrities will also be featured on the runway. In addition, there will be live performances, art stalls, wine tasting, and exclusive kasi food,” he concluded.
