Tsakani – The Nkosinathi Mbonani Foundation received an award under the first annual Ekurhuleni Youth Legacy Awards hosted by the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) executive mayor, in collaboration with the Youth Directorate.
“I received an award under the sports category for my impact on sports in Ekurhuleni. The foundation has contributed immensely to the community with its charity drives of soup kitchens, charity soccer and netball games, pad drives in schools, and donations to different organisations including the Leratong Crèche, Buhlebemfundo Secondary School, among others,” said the foundation founder, Nkosinathi Mbonani.
He said he established the foundation in 2020 during the hardships of Covid-19 – two months after the national lockdown.
“The reason for this establishment was to assist families struggling to make ends meet,” he said.
He added that the foundation focuses on overcoming socioeconomic issues that the people from the townships endure.
“The focus is to eradicate socioeconomic factors like poverty and unemployment. The foundation tries to do as much as it can to alleviate the issues confronted by its surrounding people.
“It donates food parcels to those in need, creates jobs through the Nkosinathi Mbonani Foundation annual charity games and plans to do more for the community,” Mbonani said.
