Tsakani – Whitey Tshowa is organising their last Upward Spiral 1471 Festival Cup Kasi Football Tournament to be held at Malandela Ground in Tsakani from December 16 to 31.
The semi-final and final games will take place at the Tsakani Stadium on January 3 and 4. Tshowa said the idea behind this tournament is to give back to the community in an impactful way through sports.
“This tournament is going to be huge; we always invite teams from all over the province to partake in our tournament games. The reason our tournament ends on January 4 is to keep the community occupied,” said Tshowa.
He added that the tournament is designed to accommodate U13, U15 and senior teams.
Teams will affiliate as follows:
• U13 affiliation fee is R800, only eight teams will participate in the tournament. The winning team will walk away with 22 sports bags, gold medals and a soccer kit.
• U15 affiliation fee is R1 000, only eight teams will participate. The winning team will win R10 000, medals and new soccer kits.
• Senior teams affiliation fee is R3 000, only 24 teams will participate. The first position prize is R150 000, the second position R100 000, third position R50 000 and fourth position will receive R20 000.
• Masters teams will also be allowed to participate but affiliation and prize will be announced during the tournament launch.
He said the tournament aims to bring forward community upliftment by allowing street vendors to sell food and other refreshment to spectators during the games at no additional cost.
“There will be a play area and refreshments for the children during the semi-final and final games. Teams are encouraged to affiliate on time to avoid disappointments. Those who have not paid an affiliation fee will not be added to the fixtures,” Tshowa added.
Tshowa added that teams are encouraged to attend the launch on December 8 at Le Rock in Tsakani at 14:00. Teams will also receive tournament rules on the day.
“We will also be giving food hampers to the Tsakane Old Age Home on Christmas Eve as part of our social service,” he added.
