Tsakani – Themba Mavusa (19) said growing up around people who drew inspiration from music turned him into a musician at a young age. Mavusa has the name YC_SA The Sauceking on stage.

He said while growing up, many people in his area owned studios and this is where he gathered interest to learn how to produce music.

“I became a producer in 2021. The journey has not been an easy one but there is always room for advancement.

“Making music and producing music has really contributed to my life and has helped me grow. It is a smart way for me to make extra cash and a good source to make money to upgrade my studio now and then.

“After I had realised that townships do not have studios that are accessibly cheap for children like me who want to learn how to make music, who want to produce hit after hit, I decided to build one and give access to my peers,” he said.

He mentioned building his studio was not an easy task as he battled to raise money for equipment. His parents later realised his potential and gave him a helping hand by purchasing some of his studio equipment.

He also cited that music allows him to put his experiences on paper. It also enables him to inspire, educate, inform and connect to others through music.

“I started writing music at the age of 13 when I was in Grade Seven as a way of channelling my emotions, dealing with things I could not talk about and mostly, it was a way of keeping myself motivated,” cited Mavusa.

He said he looks up to artists such as Emtee and Breezy_SA. He describes them as inspirational artists who give proper direction to the youth about life.

“Emtee is successful and has a way of providing light to those in need. I aspire to work with him one day.

“I have also been mentoring local young up-and-coming artists, equipping them for their music careers both musically and technically,” he added.

Mavusa is currently working on a single titled 024 Freestyle to drop on July 26. He said his fans and friends can expect to experience a transformation through a single song as it aims to uplift those who are currently at their weakest.
