Though the 2018 Broadway production was an epic flop — The Post’s Peter Marks panned it as “theme-park Broadway at its most transparent” — the Eighth Wonder of the World himself was a sight to behold. The massive marionette, which came in at 20 feet tall and 2,400 pounds, was controlled by a small army of puppeteers, including three offstage artists who remotely manipulated Kong’s face, neck and shoulders. “King Kong is big and scary, with a fierce set of chompers, overdeveloped shoulders and hands that could crush SUVs,” Marks wrote. “His effect on you is real.”
