The CoE encourages customers to register on its convenient self-service water meter management system to capture their readings from home for accurate, up-to-date and unestimated billing.
Through the #MyCoE App, residents can manage their meter readings and upload the images directly for submission. After submission, residents receive a confirmation notification for peace of mind.
When it is time for submission, the system automatically sends reminders to customers, ensuring they stay informed and engaged with their utility management.
The self-service system comes with various benefits for residents and city management:
• Eliminates interim/estimated meter readings: Residents can now give accurate readings directly, improving billing accuracy.
• Eliminates data duplication: The process reduces the chances of data duplication and ensures correct recording of the readings.
• Self-capture of accurate readings: Residents can manage their readings, leading to accurate and timely submissions.
• Photo upload for audit and confirmation: Uploading images of your meter readings is a verification tool that enhances the credibility of the readings submitted.
• GPS co-ordinates for accurate linking: The GPS co-ordinates through phones help ensure the precise location of the meter linked to the resident’s account.
• Consistency across customer care centres: This system establishes a consistent process across various customer care centres, improving service delivery.
• Alternative options for non-smartphone users: The city has alternatives for residents without smartphones. They can visit a local customer care centre or authorise a city-appointed meter reader to access their property and submit readings on their behalf.
Support and assistance: Residents needing help with the new system can call the Siyakhokha Call Centre on 011 999 5102 or email Siyakhokha@ekurhuleni.gov.za
The support team is available Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 13:00. The city’s self-service meter management system represents a significant step forward in customer service and operational efficiency.
Customers can also manage their water bills by ensuring there are no internal water leaks on their properties.
Leaks that might look insignificant could amount to excessive volumes of lost water, thus increasing your bill.
