Tsakani – Former Buhlebemfundo Secondary School learners donated 400 sanitary towels and R10 000 to the school on November 30 as part of their giving back initiative.
“I thank Tshepo Khomati for donating R5 000 to our initiative. As this school’s alumni, we raised R5 000 and received additional funding from Khomati. I sincerely thank everyone for pulling off a remarkable giving back session,” said alumnus chairperson Kgantsi Motsamai.
Motsamai said the initiative had special guests address the grades 11 and 12 learners.
“Gadlas Mahlomola and Thabang Mashiyane were the highlights of the initiative when they provided insightful information based on different topics.
“Mahlomola spoke about a career as a social worker and related his experiences trying to forge relationships between offenders and victims. He discouraged crime among the learners.
“Mashiyane spoke about responsible social media use and mentioned careers in the media space, citing some of the spaces learners can explore,” explained Motsama.
He added that each speaker encouraged the learners to stay focused, determined and confident in all they do. He said Dr Nisi Thusi emphasised the importance of girls getting an education, motivated them and spoke about good career choices.
School principal Themba Mayise was thankful for the alumnus’ generosity and helping hand.
“I pass my utmost gratitude to everyone who gave a helping hand with the growth and development of the current generation.
“What you have planted will go a long way in nourishing the fruits of our nation and community. We thank you as Buhlebemfundo Secondary School,” cited Mayise.
