Shaun White knows that a winning romance takes work.
Two weeks after the Olympic gold medalist got engaged to longtime love Nina Dobrev, he reflected on what works for their relationship.
“I’m beside myself to be with this amazing woman and to be joining her beautiful family,” Shaun began on Instagram Nov. 14. “Our quarantine romance turned into this beautiful relationship and now a forever love. Believe me when I say that this app mostly shows us at our best.”
“Behind the curtain, like any relationship, we’ve had our struggles,” he continued. “But it’s our ability to communicate and repair that keeps us moving forward together. I’m so thankful for the life lessons, gratitude, adventure and love that Nina has taught me, and I only wish to show her the same in return.”
The snowboarder shared the heartwarming message alongside a clip of his romantic proposal to the Vampire Diaries alum at The Golden Swan restaurant in New York City filled with white flowers and glowing candles. And he was sure to highlight their loved ones coming back to the room to congratulate the newly engaged couple and gush over Nina’s dazzling ring.
