Tsakani – Mthokozisi Mnisi (26), known to his fans as ‘Slacka MT’, became an artist because of his passion for music and poetry.
Mnisi makes a hip-hop rap and rhythm and blues (R&B) fusion. He said his inspiration comes from everyday life experiences, social issues, and personal growth.
“My motivation stems from a desire to express myself authentically and connect well with others through my music.
“I started making music at age 15 in high school. I was part of a rap group and performed at small events in my neighbourhood.
“My vision is to inspire and empower through my music while showcasing African talent globally. My mission is to create authentic, meaningful music that resonates with people,” he said.
Mnisi has worked with local artists like Austin Cide, Ch£@z Tha Nikka, Anti Heretic and Victor Viper, to name a few.
He wishes to work with international artists like J Cole and The Weeknd and popular local artists like Nasty C, A-Reece and Shane Eagle.
“I have produced and written songs like My Demons and I’m Back. My fans should expect a new single titled Wisdom, which will drop on October 31. The song is about acquiring wisdom from life experiences. I am also working on an EP called 18915, which will release this November,” said Mnisi.
Mnisi said the music industry has contributed to his growth, confidence and creativity and has allowed him to connect with others.
He added that he believes his music journey has yet to take him to well-established places in and outside SA, and his fans should expect nothing short of brilliance.
