Kwa-Thema – Learners from the Active A-Academy and the Jabulela I Sbusiso Home Work Centre recently competed in a spelling bee at Ntokozweni Primary School.

According to Nthabiseng Mampa, the principal of Active A-Academy, the event was successful.

“All the children did exceptionally well. The contest aims to encourage our learners to read more. We want them to know words so well they can spell each word without looking at it,” she added.

The event was for learners from grades one to nine, spelling in English, Afrikaans, isiZulu and isiPedi.

Several parents came to support their children, who received medals and certificates for participating.

Ndabezitha Alfred Skosana of the Ndebele royalty and reverend Oupa Skosana from the House of God church in Zion graced and blessed the event.

“A special thanks to the judges, who were fair and helped make the children comfortable. Thank you to the staff for their dedication,” said Mampa.
