Two Kwatsaduza learners were among those who represented Gauteng in the 2024 SAFA U15 National Championships which took place at Sturrock Park on August 9 and 10.

The Gauteng team represented the province so well that they were selected to represent South Africa in Namibia for the CAF African Schools Championships next month.

Rethabile Molefe and Mbali Nkosi, both from Duduza, play for Springs Home Sweepers. The Sweepers’ coach, Mkhonza ‘Skheshe’ Mkhonzana, expressed how proud he was of the girls.

“We are happy that there’s progress and we will keep working. We want them to prosper in sports and education,” Mkhonzana said.

He urged parents to support youth who are partaking in sports.

“There are so many talented young people who lack a support structure, instead they are being discouraged.

“I advise parents to support their children’s sports careers and I would like to encourage men to take women’s sports seriously,” he urged.
