Kwa-Thema – On Saturday morning, EMPD Eastern Region Task Team officers arrested three men for theft of a motor vehicle.
According to CoE spokesperson Zweli Dlamini, the officers followed up on information received about a stolen motor vehicle.
The vehicle was later cornered on Kotobe Street. The three occupants attempted to flee but were caught.
It is alleged the vehicle was stolen around 02:30 on the same day, when an e-hailing driver was requested to Nkabinde Street, Daveyton.
The customers jumped out of the vehicle and ran away without paying. Then as the driver chased them, he left the vehicle idling and it was stolen.
The suspects, in their 30s, were arrested and detained at the Kwa-Thema Police Station. They will soon appear before the Kwa-Thema Magistrate’s Court for car theft.
