Geluksdal – The Ubuntu Community Empowerment Centre (CNDC), an NPO in Geluksdal, has successfully run its Community Nutrition Development Centre programme for the past four years.
The programme operates weekly from 10:00 to 14:00 and serves at least 500 people across six locations.
“We operate at the Geluksdal Centre, Geluksdal Ext 3, Langaville exts 7 and 8, Mzumbe, Kwa Thema Hostel, and Ekuthuleni. Our menu offers various options, which include nutritious meals.
“We have a sit-in area for all our beneficiaries, and while serving, we engage with our beneficiaries on life skills,” said centre manager Patric Mabilane.

Mabilane said CNDC aims to alleviate poverty and hunger by ensuring community members have something to eat daily, saying poor and vulnerable people are made to feel important and valued.
“We do not want anyone to go to bed hungry or without a plan for their next meal. While offering food, we offer them skills like time management, goal-setting, job readiness programmes and economic opportunities.
“The centre allows the Department of Labour to come from time to time and engage with their beneficiaries about learnership opportunities, skills training programmes and job placements,” he added.
