Tsakani – The founder and coach of Rise and Shine, Ditebogo Sibiya, organised a Unity Tournament at the Ext 22 phase 1 Sambo ground on November 16.
The tournament aimed to unite community members, attract potential sponsors and introduce people to sports.
Sibiya’s U11 team played Block 7 on Saturday and lost 3-1.
“Five minutes into the game, we scored our first goal, which was a highlight of the game. The game was generally tough. Our opposition’s defence strategies were tight until the match ended in penalties, which resulted in our loss.
“We wasted many goal opportunities. Above everything else, I am happy with my team’s performance. Their performance displayed dedication,” said Sibiya.

Thabang Tsotetsi, the Block 7 coach, said soccer brings children and the community together and helps them avoid unconstructive activities.
“My team played well and received motivation from seeing their parents come to support them. I am thankful to the parents for showing support to their children.
“I want all my children to succeed and make it big, especially in sports. I am also grateful that we managed to win the match. It was not easy, yet we managed,” added Tsotetsi.
