The Masimong Foundation Career Day brought together Grade 11 and 12 learners from five high schools in Kwa-Thema last Saturday.

The aim of the event, which was held at Laerskool Werda, was to assist the learners with career guidance and career choices.

“It was more than just an event; it was a beacon of hope and inspiration for young minds at a crucial juncture in their lives. These learners were allowed to interact with experienced professionals from various fields.

“The goal was clear: to expose them to career options that they might not have previously considered,” explained Sandy Teke, who is one of the founders and directors of the foundation.

The exhibitors gave the learners the opportunity to engage with tools of the trade.

The event also provided a platform for learners to connect with various companies and educational institutions.

Attending and taking part were Agricultural Development Agency (ADGA), Anchor Group, Barloworld SA, Ciba and Sage, Corruseal, Discovery Health, Inelco, Komatsu, Mazars, Netsurit, SAICA, Seriti Resources, Rand Merchant Bank (RMB), Rockwell Automation, University of South Africa (UNISA) and Tshwane University of Technology (TUT).

“We wish to thank all the companies and institutions that participated in our inaugural Masimong Foundation Career Day. We appreciate their dedication and willingness to share their expertise with the learners from Kwa-Thema.

“We hope this collaboration is the beginning of a longstanding relationship between them and our foundation,” added Teke.

The interactions between the learners and the representatives from these institutions and companies opened a promising path to a brighter future for the learners through shared resources and expertise.

“Their insights truly resonated with our learners and their expertise aligned perfectly with their career choices and paths. We look forward to the potential of working together with them again and creating more memorable experiences for our learners,” said Teke.

She believes that the event was a testament to the power of collaboration and the profound impact of mentorship.

“We look to the future and commit ourselves to continue our efforts to inspire, guide, and support young minds.

“By investing in education and career guidance, we are not only shaping the future of these learners but also contributing to the broader goal of community upliftment and empowerment,” she concluded.
