CoE invites poets to shine in Slam Poetry contest

The CoE calls on all wordsmiths in the region to battle it out on stage in a slam poetry competition.

Interested poets must be residents of the city and 16 years or older to participate.

There is no registration, just walk in. Three categories on the score sheet will determine the outcome – lyrical, dramatic and narrative.

The slam poetry competition will happen in various places around the city.

The top three performers from each area will participate in the final on December 13 at the Dumisani Masilela Theatre in Germiston.

Competition details:
• Southern region: November 26 from 10:00 to 16:00 at the Katlehong Library Auditorium;

• Eastern region: November 27 from 10:00 to 16:00 at the Rhoo Hlatshwayo Art Centre;

• Northern region: November 29 from 10:00 to 16:00 at the Thembisa West Library.
