Kwa-Thema – The U13, U15 and U11 teams continued to battle it out at the Springs Football Association league games on September 14 at the Kwa-Thema Sports Complex.

The U13 match started on a rocky note, with team coaches cheering on their teams with the hope of winning the game. Both halves were bumpy and full of mistakes.

Real Barcelona coach Phindile Lekubu said the first half was good, and they played well, saying the second half was somewhat messy.

“I use ‘messy’ because I did not have enough players in the second half. I had to remove some players from the U13 game to go and play in the U15 game because of insufficient players.

The U13 teams play a heated game at the Kwa-Thema Sports Complex on Saturday.

“We had to play the game without certain players, not enough to perform well. I am positive we would have won the game had it not been for the shortage we encountered,” she said.

She added that she is always impressed by her team’s performance and that they were sitting comfortably in position one on the league log, but due to losing this game, they have moved to second position.

“Through it all, I am confident we will perform well next week and move back to the top,” she added.
uMlilo beat Real Barcelona 1-0.

“Their coach, Paseka Nxaxo, described the game as tough, saying the opponents were very defensive and had good middle-fielders and strikers.

“I am pleased yet surprised we managed to win the game. The goal we scored means a lot because it will boost us in the league and move us up on the log.

“We experienced minor inconveniences at the beginning of the league. We also did not have our head in the game, but we are getting into a rhythm and ready for anything,” he added.

The results from the other games:

  • U15: Real Barcelona 3-1 Kwa-Thema Flames
  • U11: All Nations 2-0 uMlilo.
